an ancient idea

wooden board, bracket, foam rubber. length: 3,5 m

a long shelf is mounted on the wall with only one bracket, making the board bend under its own weight. a pillar of soft foam rubber is placed under the shelf, making the impression that the pillar is supporting it when it is in fact the other way around.

reflection strategy

floor tiles, polyester thread, spotlight

two grey floor tiles are leant against the wall in two slightly different angles. the light from a spotlight placed on the floor hits the tiles and forms a light beam on the wall ending precisely on the skirting board where the wall and the floor meet.
